The Poet's Retreat project was a BeeBreeders' competition entry in collaboration with Square Peg Bureau Architecture.

The design of the cabins are deliberately formed to provide protection from outside influence, giving the residents the chance to unwind and relax. The space changes from a concealed sleeping bunk with private views of the fields and beyond to a small private meadow, to a more social kitchen and living that provides views into the central Poetry Pit.

Behind the cabins are semi-private gardens, protected by recycled concrete gabion walls, culminating in an isolated meditation area behind a high gabion wall and sheltered by a native birch tree.

The building was modelled in SketchUp and rendered using V-ray and Photoshop. The presentation was compiled using InDesign and the illustrations produced in Illustration and Photoshop. The 2D drawings produced in Vectorworks.
